About Yuk Dae Jang San Diego / 육대장 샌디에고

육개장 전문점

Yuk Dae Jang San Diego / 육대장 샌디에고 is a korean restaurant in San Diego, California. It is listed at 7307 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92111, which places it among the local businesses of San Diego that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In San Diego, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–9 pm. Note that it does not open on Tuesday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (858) 737-4002. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 227 reviews, which is a strong result for a korean restaurant in San Diego and suggests consistent service.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Diego follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Yuk Dae Jang is famous for their warm stews, but don't sleep on their cold dishes! Their Brisket Spicy Cold Bibim Noodle is the perfect cold spicy noodles for hot weather. The buckwheat noodles have a great chew, the brisket is delicious, and the spicy sauce hits the spot without being overpowering. The service was fast and friendly, and they have a great parking lot which is rare for the area. Perfect summer comfort food!

While the family trip in San Diego, my son was looking for some Korean food. We couldn’t find a good Korean restaurant, but this place caught our eyes. My son tried the yuk gae jang. He told it’s a little spicy but it’s good to have, not super spicy. I ordered non-spicy one just in case it’s too spicy, but it’s not. Also we ordered dumplings. I could have only one because my 9 year old son had all except 2 left for me and wife. We really enjoyed the food. We plan to visit here again before we back home.

Wonderful restaurant! The manager, middle aged woman is so sweet. She took my order while I was waiting outside, as soon as I sat down, food was brought out. The soup had the perfect balance of heat and flavor. Definitely hit the spot. 5/5

Exceptional quality in every way, a luxury hidden gem! Stopped in for lunch and ordered Yukgaejang with soft tofu and purple rice(!), the broth was exceptionally flavorful with slow cooked brisket and egg and paired wonderfully with the rice, I couldn’t put it down! Matching gold chopsticks spoons and bowls was a nice touch. Probably the best Korean soup spot in town. Prompt service and very friendly. All under $25 with tax tip! I’ll definitely be back with friends :)

A casual Korean chain specializing in Yukgaejang and Seolleongtang but they also have fresh, perfectly cooked purple rice, do a great bossam, and have delicious galbi patties! I love wrapping my bossam in perilla leaves. Upon looking at the pictures on Google amd social media, it didn't seem that they offered perilla leaves so we came prepared 🤭 Upon ordering, I asked our server if they had perilla leaves and he said no so I nicely asked if it was okay that we brought our own. He said it was fine 🙂 We actually went back the next night to eat more soup!!! The owner/manager was so kind and friendly.
